An app that converts units of measurement can be called a unit converter, conversion calculator, or measurement converter. These terms are used interchangeably to describe apps that perform calculations to convert between different units of measurement, such as length, weight, volume, temperature, and more.
The Molecular Weight Calculator can be used to calculate the molecular weight and percent composition of chemical formulas and amino acids (peptides). It recognizes user-definable abbreviations and custom elemental isotopes. It also includes a Mole/Mass Converter, Mass-to-Charge Converter, Formula Finder, Capillary Flow Calculator, Amino Acid Notation Converter, Isotopic Distribution Calculator, and Peptide Sequence Fragmentation Modeler.

A standalone desktop/laptop app of an interactive program called ChemTech. The program acts as a learning aid as the user moves through the various aspects of analytical chemistry laboratory work and the needed skills to be learned. The ChemTech program has reference tables and an interactive periodic table. It has a link to a LIMS program that we will learn to use. The program also has a review of most of the chapters in this book. The combination of the ChemTech program and the chapters in this book can prepare the student.
A very useful computer program found in most laboratories today is the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). LIMS are used to input data, track sample progress, record sample data such as company, type, and tests needed and so forth. This is a LIMS example that can be used to log in samples, input data, search samples, approve samples, and print reports and certificates of analysis (C of A). Also becoming more common in labs are electronic laboratory notebooks.
